What is an E-way bill?
E-way Bill (Electronic way bill) It is a bill that is to be generated via waybill portal for movement of goods. After the bill is generated the person will be getting EBN i.e. E- Waybill Number. This bill is generated when there is a movement of goods in a vehicle of value more than Rs. 50,000.

Who should generate the E-way Bill?
Eway Bill can be generated by 3 persons: -
• Registered Person
• Unregistered Person
Registered Person- It must be generated when there is an actions of goods for more than Rs 50,000 from registered person
Unregistered Person- All are required to generate an E-way bill whether it is a registered person or unregistered person. Unregistered individual is also expected to generate an eway bill
Transporter- If the supplier has not generated an e-Way Bill, transporters transporting goods by road, air, rail, etc. also need to produce an e-Way Bill
When should an E-Way bill be issued?
E-way bill will be issued when value of goods and services is more than Rs 50,000
• Supply from an unregistered person
• Supply of goods
• In some case it can be return of goods
Documents required for E-Waybill :-
Certain documents are required while generating an E-Way Bill
• Invoice / Bill of supply/ challan associated with the consignment of products
• Transport by road- Transporter ID or Vehicle number
• Transport by rail, air, or ship- Transporter ID, Transport documents number, and date on the documents
Can E-Way Bill be modified or cancelled?
While generating an E-way Bill one should keep in mind that after the bill is generated it cannot be edited or modified. But yes, the information which consists of vehicle details can be modified.
